Heard Creative is a female-founded creative agency based in Rochester, NY that’s currently seeking a driven and detail-oriented Associate Designer/Art Director to join our team. Our ideal candidate is skilled at working with and evolving established creative and is capable of ideating, developing, and executing original creative concepts. You’ll play a key part in supporting one of our largest clients, a global technology leader, by evolving their existing design systems, ensuring all work is both brand-compliant and infused with new creative perspectives. To succeed in this role, you should be able to function both autonomously and collaboratively with our team, and have a holistic understanding of basic design principles and their applications. WHAT YOU’LL DO: PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborative Iteration: Actively participate in creative brainstorms and iterate on designs based on internal feedback and client direction to achieve the best possible output.
- Champion Brand Integrity: Maintain and advocate for brand consistency across all touchpoints, ensuring alignment with established brand standards.
- Present and Rationalize: Participate in internal and client-facing reviews, presenting creative work and providing clear rationales for design decisions.
- Asset Optimization: Refine existing design templates to improve visual impact while ensuring technical feasibility for final production and 100% error-free delivery.
- Collaborate Effectively: Communicate ideas accurately and effectively, both internally and externally, valuing clarity and compassionate candor.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING: REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Design Portfolio: Original creative samples highlighting versatility and craft in advertising/marketing communications.
- Professional Background: 2 to 3 years of creative design experience within an advertising agency, marketing firm, or in-house creative department (preferred).
- Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and experience within Google Workspace (Gmail, Chat, Calendar, Slides) and Microsoft Office (PowerPoint).
- Technical Versatility: Prior exposure to Adobe Workfront or equivalent project management tools is preferred; a basic understanding of agency workflow and task-tracking is a bonus.
- Soft Skills: High emotional intelligence, effective communication, and a collaborative attitude.
- Proactive Mindset: A genuine passion for design, continual learning, and evolving ways of working with strong attention to detail.
WHAT YOU’LL GET: COMPENSATION & ADDITIONAL DETAILS
- Annual Salary: $45,000 - $50,000 (Full-Time). Please make sure your own salary requirements are within this range before applying.
